Learn-to-Row CAMP Details

What are the Camps/Ages breakdown?
Middle School Learn to Row Camps are for rising 7th - 8th graders.
High School Learn to Row Camp are for rising 9th - 12th graders.

What Should Campers Wear? Participants should wear clothing that is suitable for exercise and rowing every day; sneakers with socks, fitted sports shorts or spandex that won't get caught in the wheels of the boat seats, and a tank or t-shirt. If your camper has long hair, we suggest bringing a hair tie.

Water and Sunscreen: Please bring plenty of water to drink, more than you think is needed. Large refillable bottles are recommended as they hold a lot and are easy to tell apart from other campers' bottles. It can be extremely hot on the water in the summer, please don't forget sunscreen.

Verifying Where and When? Camp is held at our SCC boathouse - located at 1329 Banana River Drive, Indian Harbour beach, FL 32927 at the Oars & Paddles Park near Mather's Bridge. Camp starts at 8:00 am each day, Mon-Fri, and ends at 10:00 am, give or take a few minutes of getting equipment put away and closing the camp as a group with a big #GOSCC!! We camp rain or shine! Rarely is camp cancelled by coaches due to weather. If conditions are not safe to be in the boathouse, your camp coach will text or email the primary account holder for each camper prior to camp.

Swim Test Tips and Details: Campers are required to complete a swim test as a safety precaution. Please get swim tests completed and uploaded into your student's account prior to the start of camp. This allows your camper to jump right in and start camp on time. It seems to be easiest for most parents to take a photo of the completed test with their phone, then log into our website from your phone. Once logged in, go to 'My Account'. Here you will see your student(s) name. Click on the pencil next to their name and scroll halfway down to the 'documents and files/swim test section'. Here you can 'Choose' the picture you took from your phone and then click 'Upload'. Don't forget to scroll to the very bottom of the page and click 'Update' to ensure swim test is saved. Here is a link to our FORMS page of the website where you can download and print the swim test form to take with you to the pool/lifeguard of your choice!

About Registration: When you click to register a camp, you will be asked to log-in or create an account. After logging in, you will need go to 'My Account' where you can 'Add Players'. Add your student(s) information here. For camps or clinics you do not need to add a birth certificate. All other sections and waivers do need to be read, checked, and filled out (release of liability, t-shirt size, emergency contact info, etc.). The swim test form may be added later, at any time before the start of camp.

Once you have completed the registration of your camper and uploaded and saved their swim test, your student athlete is ready for Learn to Row Camp!

Please note the following; Payments are by credit card only. Please understand, payments are non-refundable. As a non-profit, volunteer-parent run student-sport-club, we cannot pay the charges associated with refunds as it would have to come from program dues our team members contribute. 2022 SCC HS Summer Competitive Camp

SCC is excited to offer our Summer Competitive Camp experience for 2022. This camp is open to our most serious and motivated rowers who have completed at least one year with Space Coast Crew (at least rising 9th graders). Camp will be open to 20 registrations including female and male rowers. This camp registration is set up as a 2-step, “try out” to allow coaches to evaluate athletes to determine who would best benefit from this competitive camp. We want to ensure its a positive growth experience for our athlete participants with the heavy focus on small boats and sculling.

This does not require a formal “try out” per se, but may involve a discussion with the athlete, coach and parents. The first step of registration will show a $0 charge. You will only be charged once you are accepted, and you go back in to accept and pay for your spot. If the 20 spots are not filled by June 1, the camp will be open to all interested athletes.

The Summer Competitive Camp is available to any rising 9th-12th graders who have had at least one season (fall, spring, or full year) on the high school team. It will run from June 20th to July 22nd. Practice will be Monday through Friday from 7:30-10:30am and will include rowing in both sculling and sweep boats and weight training.

Athletes who sign up for this camp are committed to racing at US Rowing Youth Summer Nationals in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on July 15-17th. The cost for the camp includes five weeks of training and travel (bus), hotel, and regatta costs for the race. Athletes will travel and room together so parents are not required to attend the regatta. Coach Jocelyn, Coach Little, and a few parent chaperones will supervise the athletes throughout the trip. More information about race logistics and travel will be provided after registration.

Please note, payment is by credit card only and is non-refundable. Camps cannot be prorated for missed days or weeks of camp.
