Middle School Crew is Fun and Challenging!
An introduction to the sport of rowing in a team environment.

Space Coast Crew Middle School Rowing is a recreational team program designed to introduce rowing to boys and girls attending any Brevard County school (6th, 7th, & 8th graders). The goal is to introduce rowing while maintaining an informal and fun atmosphere.

A full season of Middle School Crew runs from late August- April of each calendar year. Our Middle School team competes at a few regattas each year and learns healthy workout and lifestyle habits while picking up new skills, physical and mental strength in a fun environment.

Registration for the 2019/2020 Middle School Crew Team is OPEN!
While rising 8th graders may choose to join either the Middle School Team or the HS Team as a novice, this isn't a light decision; the HS team has a much more stringent workout regimen and practice schedule and is required to attend more regattas during the year.

Middle School Practice Times starting August 19th, 2019:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 5:30pm - 7:15pm at the SCC Boathouse at Oars & Paddles Park, Indian Harbour Beach, rain or shine--- unless you hear something different from the Coaches!

We will invite returning Middle School Team Members to participate in Sculling or Competitive Team Camps:
See the high school team page for more information about the camps.

Space Coast Crew Mission: To promote a developmental rowing program that embodies sportsmanship & ethics, principles of respect & responsibility, and personal growth through winning & losing with dignity & self-control.

Please find the registration package for the SCC Middle School rowing team. All sections regarding policies, waivers and notices must to be read, reviewed, considered and agreed to during the registration process. You will receive a confirmation email when registration is complete with a link to the Required Sport Physical form, and a link to the Swim Test form to print (if you don't have a swim test on file).

Registration and Dues cover program and equipment costs, a t-shirt, practices, regatta entry fees, yearbooks, holiday and year end parties and food at the regattas. This program is for rowers in grades 6th - 8th. Rowers who are in 6th grade will need to meet with the coaches to ensure they are ready for the team prior to registration. This may be done through a summer camp or meeting coaching staff at the boathouse.  Practice will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 5:15 -7 :00 pm and Saturday 8:00 - 10:00 am.

Regarding volunteer hours (10 hours per rower): Please select one or more ways you are interested in volunteering this year from the choices provided. Food Tent help is always needed and we are looking for families who have a diesel truck and are willing to help us tow the boat trailer to and from regattas.  If nothing is chosen, you will see the volunteer hours added as a dollar amount in checkout. This is up to you- we have had families choose. We will also have new fundraising opportunities this year we haven't seen before. We are looking forward to parent and board engagement to fund the things that make our rower's time at SCC great! Hours will be tracked through the fall and families are expected to have met half of their hours no later then Dec 31. Anyone who does not meet that commitment will be charged $50 as of January 1. This charge may be credited back in the spring once all the volunteer hours are met.

Each rower needs a YEARLY Sports Physical form completed. This form must be printed out, then filled out and signed by an M.D., then submitted in person, in a sealed envelope with rower's first and last name, as soon as possible. This can be delivered at Registration day on August 3rd, at Learn to Row day on August 10th, or may be placed into the black locked box at the boathouse by or before August 24th.

This year Brevard County School Board elected to require EKG's for all athletes participating in school sports. Space Coast Crew is adopting this policy as well and requests that all athletes have an EKG as well. Who We Play For is a Non-profit organization that is helping to make these available through out the community. They will be hosting a clinic on August 5th from 5-7 pm at Oars and Paddles Boathouse. Please sign up here if you wish o participate in the SCC clinic for $20.

Please note: As a non-profit scholastic sports team, payments are accepted by Visa/Mastercard only and the card used for Registration will be kept on file securely by Blue Sombrero and charged. Dues based on the payment schedule you select.  This year we are offering a monthly payment schedule  or you may pay in full.
