Middle School (7th - 8th grade)

Middle School Team (7th - 8th Grade)

Space Coast Crew Mission: To promote a developmental rowing program that embodies sportsmanship & ethics, principles of respect & responsibility, and personal growth through winning & losing with dignity & self-control.

About the SCC Middle School Team

Our Middle School program is open to all 7th - 8th graders in Brevard County, Florida no matter where you attend school. Middle School Crew is Fun and Challenging! The goal is to introduce rowing while maintaining an informal and fun atmosphere.

Space Coast Crew Middle School Rowing is a recreational team program designed to introduce rowing to boys and girls attending any Brevard County school (7th & 8th graders).

  • Rowers who are in 6th grade may be considered but will need to meet with the coaches to ensure they are ready for the team prior to registration. This may be done through a summer camp or meeting coaching staff at the boathouse.
  • While rising 8th graders may choose to join either the Middle School Team or the High School Team, this isn't a light decision; the HS team has a much more stringent workout regimen and practice schedule and is required to attend more regattas during the year.

Middle School Season:

  • A full season of Middle School Crew runs from mid-August - May, with a break in December of each calendar year. Our Middle School team competes at several regattas in the fall and spring and learns healthy workout and lifestyle habits while picking up new skills, physical and mental strength in a fun environment.

Middle School Practice:

  • Families have a choice of two practice schedules for their rowers. This will help keep the groups smaller and more manageable.
