Brevard Cup Champions 2013 - 2018

High School / Youth Program

SCC Youth/High School Team

A recreational and highly competitive rowing team for rising 8th or 9th-12th grade scholastic students in Brevard County, FL.

Our season begins in mid-August and ends in mid-May each calendar year.

Registration for the 2018/2019 High School Crew Team is now OPEN!

While rising 8th graders may choose to join either the High School Team (as a Novice, first year rower) or the Middle School Team, this isn't a light decision; the HS team has a much more stringent workout regimen and practice schedule and is required to attend more regattas during the year.

Our High School/ Youth Team (8th or 9th-12th grade) is a competitive rowing team that practices 5 days a week in fall and 6 days a week in the spring. Our HS rowers attend 8 or more regattas a year, often placing in top positions in Nationals, Regionals, State, and Local regattas. We are Brevard Cup Champions 6 years in a 'row'. Our HS Team works hard, laughs hard, and learns to take both wins and losses with dignity and self-control. Many of our HS Team rowers get scholarships, some go on to row in college, and all learn teamwork, the value in hard work to make personal gains, the importance of discipline, how to set goals and meet them, teamwork, team spirit, camaraderie, true friendship and the ability to build bonds that can last a lifetime.

High School (Including Novice Rowers) Practices Start the Week of August 13, 2018:

~Men's Team: Starting August 13, 2018 and running each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 4:45pm - 7pm and Sat, 7-10AM
~Women's Team: Starting August 14, 2018 and running each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 4:45pm - 7pm and Sat, 7-10AM

Practices are held at the SCC Boathouse at Oars & Paddles Park, in Indian Harbour Beach, RAIN or SHINE!--- unless you hear something otherwise directly from your Coach!

All sections regarding policies, waivers and notices must to be read, reviewed, considered and agreed to during the registration process. You will receive a confirmation email when registration is complete with links to the Required Regatta Waivers. Please Take Action when you complete registration and finish those asap.

Registration and Dues cover programs, equipment maintenance, practices, regatta entry fees, awards, and food at regattas. Not included are travel expenses to and from regattas in fall and spring and some overnight hotel stays to expect in the spring, nominal membership cost for USrowing, and a splash jacket optional purchase. Most parents carpool and take turns with travel. For some out of town regattas we have buses- for which seats run in the $40 range. More information will be available at our first Booster Meeting.

Regarding volunteer hours (20 hours per rower): Please select one or more ways you are interested in volunteering this year from the choices provided. Food Tent help is always needed and we are looking for families who have a diesel truck and are willing to help us tow the boat trailer to and from regattas.  If nothing is chosen, you will see the volunteer hours added as a dollar amount in checkout. This is up to you- we had families choose this last year. We will also have new fundraising opportunities this year we haven't seen before. We are looking forward to parent and board engagement to fund the things that make our rower's time at SCC great!

Each rower needs a YEARLY Sports Physical form completed. This form must be printed out, then filled out and signed by an M.D., then submitted in person, in a sealed envelope with rower's first and last name, as soon as possible. This can be delivered to SCC Membership Director or may be placed into the black locked box at the boathouse by or before August 10th.

Please note: As a non-profit scholastic sports team, payments are accepted by Visa/Mastercard only and the card used for Registration will be kept securely on file by Blue Sombrero and charged Dues based on the payment schedule you select.  This year we are offering a quarterly payment schedule (bi-monthly, like last year) OR a monthly payment schedule.
