2021 SCC HS Summer Competitive Camp

SCC is excited to offer our Summer Competitive Camp experience for 2021. This camp is open to our most serious and motivated rowers who have completed at least one year with Space Coast Crew (at least rising 9th graders). Camp will be open to 20 registrations including female and male rowers. This camp registration is set up as a 2-step, “try out” to allow coaches to evaluate athletes to determine who would best benefit from this competitive camp. We want to ensure its a positive growth experience for our athlete participants with the heavy focus on small boats and sculling.

This does not require a formal “try out” per se, but may involve a discussion with the athlete, coach and parents. The first step of registration will show a $0 charge. You will only be charged once you are accepted, and you go back in to accept and pay for your spot. If the 20 spots are not filled by June 1, the camp will be open to all interested athletes.
Camp will run June 21 - July 23, Monday - Friday with morning workouts 7:30 - 10:30 am. There will also tentatively be a race in Deland on Saturday, July 17th in small boats.
The summer camp will be led by Coach Jocelyn Little and is focused on a full rounded competitive training environment. The rowers will be on the water every day with focus on sculling and small boats. The rowers will be doing lifting and strength training 3x per week as well as stretching, dynamic warmups, mental toughness training and more.
The $350 fee is for the camp and covers the coaches, equipment usage, launch fuel costs and regatta cost.
Please note, payment is by credit card only and is non-refundable. Camps cannot be prorated for missed days or weeks of camp.

SCC High School / Youth Team (8th - 12th Grade)

Welcome to the 25th Season for Space Coast Crew (SCC). We are open to all youth in Brevard County, Florida no matter what school you attend.

As we are continuing to navigate our lives with COVID 19, there is still some uncertainty in regard to the Fall 2020 racing season. While we wish we could attend our traditional fall regattas, we don’t see that being in the team’s best interest at this point. Regattas are usually very high-contact events (a large amount of people in a small area) and the way that this virus spreads it is not safe for us to be around a large number of other teams. Instead, this year we are working with coaches around our local area to have some low-key scrimmages to help keep our athletes motivated and seeing progress. These would be with one or two other teams at a race site where we can spread apart from each other. If other teams are feeling unsafe or we feel unsafe then we plan to find ways to have inter-squad races and/or positive team-building events throughout the fall.

Reflecting on the current situation, we will be grateful to be able to train our athletes on a daily basis and compete in whatever way we can. While traditional racing is fun,  what is most important right now is providing consistency and being able to be together as a team and family. Since the educational experience is being altered, we are here to provide a physical and mental outlet to help everyone cope with life’s challenges. Our hope is that if we train this fall and push ourselves at practice, in the spring season we will be able to return to our traditional races and be very successful.

Registration for the 2020-2021 Season is CLOSED.

Space Coast Crew Mission: To promote a competitive rowing program that embodies sportsmanship & ethics, principles of respect & responsibility, and personal growth through winning & losing with dignity & self-control.

2020-2021 Practice Schedule - Please note the change in the OFF-Day for the men's and women's teams this fall (August  - December 2020).

Fall Practice Schedule:

High School Men

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday (OFF Thursday)

4:45-7:00 pm

7:00-10:00 am

High School Women

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (OFF Wednesday)

4:45-7:00 pm

7:00-10:00 am

Spring practice will be Monday - Friday (5 weekdays) and Saturdays for both teams as they prepare for championship racing.

Registration and Dues have been reduced by $100 for the Full year to account for the lack of Fall regatta registration fees and expenses. While we may not have traditional regattas in the fall, we still plan to hold scrimmages or events that will include the costs of the food tents as well as taking the boats off-sight and coach run regatta logistics. If the COVID situation is not improving by the Spring, adjustments will be made to Spring dues to reflect those changes. For now, the $1,700 annual fee assumes limited races in the fall through scrimmages and inter-squad events and a normal Spring racing season. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
